ROSS ISLAND (NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE ISLAND)
Get back in time to visit the first Administrative settlement of the Britishers in the Andaman Islands Ross Island. Earlier, said as the Paris of the past. This island today has ruins of all the luxury the Britishers had during that time. Ross island is the Capital of Andaman And Nicobar islands during British period from 1858 to 1942 and 1945 to 1947. During 1942 to 1945, the island was under to grip of Japanese. This island now control by Indian Navy. This is just 20 minutes by Boat journey from Water Sport Complex of Port Blair. In Ross island people can see the ruins of buildings built during British period. Ruins of Church, Printing press, Government offices, Power house, Tennis court, Bakery, pond etc... can be seen. A museum called Smritika is being maintained by Navy in this island. Some old photographs, documentary and photo copies of letters regarding the Ross island are displayed. A graveyard of Britisher’s surrounded by coconut palm trees is also available here. The island is full of coconut and palm trees. There are so many places in the island for the visitors to sit and relax. This island is an ideal destination for nature walks amidst sylvan surroundings with Deer’s, Peacocks, Exotic birds and etc.

It is also called “The Gateway to Port Blair”. An excursion to see coral reefs, exotic varieties of beautiful ornamental fish and other marine life North Bay is the most snorkelling point of Andaman. Apart. Scuba Diving, Sea Walk, and Glass boat ride can be done here. Upon Return from these famous destinations rest and relax.
